Friday
Friday was the long trip to Kilmarnock from Stockport. Dave had sorted out the tickets as he’d heard rumours that travelling with Mike on the train was bound to go wrong. For once, it didn’t. Well, except from that little mistake at Preston when we got on the earlier train (by 10 minutes) of the service to Glasgow and Dave was trying to eject some Americans from their rightfully purchased seats. Good job that all Glasgow trains also go to Carlisle 🙂
Saturday
Saturday was the main event. Ian and Nicola had travelled up as our support team and we met them at the Premier Inn. A short (!) walk to the Park Hotel and we got there just in time to hear the bagpiper start off his introduction melody.
Spoiler alert, neither Mike nor Dave won either of the compos they entered. Dave even tried ‘bribing’ the judges with individual cans of Irn Bru, to no avail 🙂
