About The British Beard Club
In November 2008, David Dade registered the domain name for the British Beard Club website after getting in touch with a few guys who, like him, had attended the World Beard and Moustache Championships in 2007, held in his home town of Brighton. The inaugural meet of TBBC took place on February 13th, 2009, a date that is celebrated every year.
In 2012 he brought the British Beard and Moustache Championships to the Corn Exchange, again in Brighton. The championships were described as “a light-hearted open competition for gentlemen with all kinds of facial hair styling”.
Whilst David is no longer with us (he passed away in June 2023), he leaves a legacy that is The British Beard Club.
TBBC is the First and Original social meeting group and members club for beard growers, their partners and families of our islands and overseas. We celebrate and support the growing, grooming and styling of beards and all facial hair, making new friends, enjoying good food, real ales and good conversation about all subjects. Our members come from all walks of life.
TBBC is a non-political, non-oriented Unincorporated Charitable Association of Beard Aficionados raising funds for charity, and giving support, friendship, and advice to anyone wanting to grow a beard, has just started to grow theirs, or who has been a long-time beard grower. Over the years from 2009-2024 the club has raised over £62,000 for charities across the U.K.
